Getting Ready Details

In order to tell the complete story of your wedding day, I like to capture as many details and little moments as possible. I thought I would share some quick little tips that may seem obvious, but with all of the craziness of last minute wedding day details you may forget.

My two biggest pieces of advice are to have everything ready for when your photographer arrives, and to keep the space you're getting ready in as clean as possible. I like to remind all of my brides that as soon as I get there I will be starting with the dress, shoes, jewelry, etc. and if you have everything laid out it will stay organized plus I can easily take the pieces I need right away.

The second, and probably hardest, thing to remember is to try and keep the space as clean as possible. Having clothes, hangers, and bags around the room is a must (trust me, when you've got 6 girls getting ready in the same room, things can get messy real quick!) but having that clutter in the background of your images distracts from the images.

I like to prepare as much ahead of time as I can so the day of a wedding is as relaxed and stress free as possible. Planning ahead and staying organized will help you do the same!

Featured Photo Shoot: Fall Lifestyle w/ Kayla

If you’ve been following my business on Facebook, which you totally should, you’ll know that Kayla was one of my gorgeous brides from earlier this year. I wanted to put together a quick little lifestyle photo shoot towards the end of fall, and I knew she would be the perfect fit for the style of the photo shoot. And you just can’t take a bad photo of this gorgeous girl!

Collaborating on photo shoots, and showing off other business’s products and ideas, is something that I love to do and hope to do more of in the future. For me, this is just time to play and have fun! Still kind of shocking that it’s actually my job too. I am grateful every day that I get to wake up and go to work at my dream job.

New Branding, Site Launch

Hello, and welcome to my new website and blog! I am incredibly excited to share my new website, logo, colors and blog with you all. It feels like I’m completely re-launching my business!

I decided it was time to give by website and brand a facelift and knew that hiring a professional to do it was the way to go. Katrina Wollet is the genius that pushed me to try new things and start new projects (like this blog), and I can’t thank her enough for all that she has done for me. She went above and beyond in creating a whole new look for my business, and I couldn’t be happier with the results.

So what is this blog going to be about? A lot of things! ☺ Obviously, showcasing the awesome people and things that I photograph, but also helpful information, tips/tricks for getting the best portrait session possible, featuring other businesses doing awesome work, and then just fun and interesting things on my adventures. I want to keep it pretty relaxed and informal. So please excuse my bad grammar (and overuse of random side-notes in parentheses), but I like to pretend we’re just sitting down and having a conversation.
